The Transmission of Trauma Across Generations Learning Objectives

Describe the both the psychological and biological impact of trauma and how they influence each other.
Identify at least three psychological theories for understanding how trauma is transmitted.
Understand the potential role epigenetics plays in the biological transmission of trauma.
Identify and describe two treatment interventions based on current neuroscience research and attachment theory for healing trauma and preventing its transmission.

Military Psychology Today Learning Objectives

The emphasis of the workshop is on presenting approaches for accessing technology resources.

To identify and describe the military service branch, rank structure and organization, and the primary mission of behavioral science officers
To identify traditional and technology based resources for the service and family members.
To describe the primary mechanism of action in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
To delineate the primary mechanism of action in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)
To name three treatments for PTSD that outperform supportive counseling.

The Military Psychology Today presenters have over 100 years of combined experience in Military Psychology, with 3 of this group being selected by the APA President to be featured at the upcoming APA convention.
