
Event Description:
In this workshop, participants will have an opportunity to learn about unconscious bias and how to work to decrease bias in the therapeutic context. Specifically, participants will learn from a combination of lecture, small and large group discussion, and scenario-based learning. Each participant will leave having increased awareness of unconscious bias and how to actively make repairs in the occupational context.
Learning Objectives:
1) Define Implicit Bias and how it relates to clinical practice.
2) Discuss the implications of implicit bias.
3) Develop applied strategies that can be used to reduce the effect of bias within your clinical work
4) provide participants an opportunity to respond to a clinical case study in small groups
Dr. Cedric Williams

Cedric Williams, Ph.D., is the Founder and CEO of Legacy Consulting & Research Group LLC. Dr. Williams is a licensed clinical and consulting psychologist who integrates psychological principles and leader development models to help individuals, teams, and organizations. Dr. Williams’ research interests include multicultural competence, DE&I, and leadership. Dr. Williams served as the DE&I chairperson for American Psychological Association's Division 13, Society of Consulting Psychology. In this role, he led a multicultural team of consulting psychologists that develop strategies, educational programs, and policies that directly impact DEI efforts in the SCP, APA, and beyond.
In addition to his work as a clinician, consultant, and professor, Dr. Williams has served in the United States Army (active and reserve) for 20 years. His current military assignment has him teaching a course titled “Psychology for Leaders” at the United States Military Academy at West Point in the summers. Dr. Williams has a variety of cultural identities that contribute to his ability to connect and build rapport with his clients.
Dr. Paul Flores

Paul Flores, Ph.D., Consulting Psychologist, is a consultant and executive coach at Legacy Consulting & Research Group. Paul enjoys helping individuals and teams rapidly optimize their skills to achieve their goals and objectives. Paul has provided professional psychological and consulting services, such as personality, neuropsychological, and organizational assessments in a variety of settings, including non-profit and private sectors.
At Legacy, Paul conducts organizational assessments, executive coaching, learning and education workshops, and administers talent assessment services. Dr. Flores holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology.
