Event Description:
Six expert panelists will talk about our national mental health crisis: that many of our citizens are receiving inadequate mental health care. Prescriptive Authority for psychologists, along with telehealth, gives our communities greater opportunities to receive the mental health care that they so desperately need.
Presenter Information:
As the most senior member of the group and a national, international leader in Prescriptive Authority, and the Chief architect of the Illinois Prescriptive Authority movement, Dr. Rom-Rymer will be the first speaker in the discussion. She will be joined by Dr. Kyle Bonesteel, Dr. Deepan Chatterjee, Dr. Brian Humphrey, Dr. Claudia Mosier , and Samantha Taylor. Dr. Kyle Bonesteel and Dr. Claudia Mosier are already prescribing psychologists in Illinois. Samantha Taylor is in the midst of her training to become a prescribing psychologists in Illinois. She has already received her Master's of Science degrees in Clinical Psychopharmacology(MSCP). Samantha Taylor has completed her predoctoral clinical internship and will be receiving her doctoral degree in the fall of 2021. Ms. Taylor will be embarking on her Clinical Rotation Fellowship soon.
At least 30 minutes will be devoted to Q and A from the audience.

1) Learn why Prescriptive Authority for psychologists can reconfigure the mental healthcare system in our country.
2) Understand the rigorous education and training program that is required for licensure as a prescribing psychologist.
3) Explain how graduate students in the United States can, now, do their training to become a prescribing psychologist while earning their doctorates in Clinical Psychology.
